One of our main focuses here at Chakrubs is to educate on how the chakra system can be used as a map to encourage reflection and optimization of our overall well-being. Consulting a pendulum is a way to gain insight into which aspect of yourself may need extra attention be determining each chakra.

A pendulum is a weight suspended on a string or a chain, typically with a point at the bottom. When suspended from a fixed position, pendulums swing back and forth or in a circular motion. Pendulums have been used throughout history to find gold or other beneficial resources. Early scientists in Europe would use pendulums to locate a patient’s infection. During WWII, Colonel Kenneth Merrylees of the British Armed Forces, used a pendulum to locate hidden bombs. Miners in South Africa employed pendulists to help them locate precious minerals.

Pendulums are often used by energy healers to determine the health of the different chakras. You can also do this on your own, by developing a relationship to a pendulum. You can even use a necklace for this practice.

If you want to use a pendulum to determine the health of your chakras, you can track the swing of the pendulum when it is above one of the chakras. To start, you can try it on your heart chakra by laying down and holding the pendulum with a steady hand over your heart center.

Here is a summary of how to translate a pendulum’s swings as they relate to the chakras:

Clockwise: the chakra is in balance

Counterclockwise: the chakra is releasing or losing energy

Even Pace with A Smooth, Fairly Wide Swing: the chakra is open and healthy Wide Swing: The chakra is too open and possibly taking in too much information

Stops: The chakra is closed because it is picking up on a threat

Uneven, Disturbed, or Tight: The chakra is undecided or confused about whether it is open or closed

Mainly vertical: the chakra is reflecting spiritual potential, but lacks practical application Mainly Horizontal: the chakra is overlooking a spiritual perspective by being overly concerned with practicality swings towards the upper right (feminine) Side of the Body: The chakra has an imbalance of feminine energies and requires a masculine perspective.

Swings towards the upper left (masculine) side of the body: This chakra has an imbalance of masculine energies and requires a masculine perspective.

Too Fast and to the Right: The chakra is full of anxiety or fearful of the future

Too Slowly and Counterclockwise: The chakra is stuck on a past issue and possibly depressed

There is a caveat to the interpretation of clockwise vs. counterclockwise spins. It is possible that it may be reversed, and for this you may wish to program your crystal to “tell” you a yes or no answer, giving it instruction to swing vertical for yes, horizontal for no. You can then ask it if your chakras are reflecting a balanced energy by swinging clockwise, and determine your answer. It is most cases that a balanced chakra will cause the pendulum to swing clockwise and is rare it will do the opposite.
