Breasts were our first home outside of the womb. Infants are placed upon their mother’s chest when they’re born and regardless of whether they’re breastfed, they are typically fed in a cradled position against the breasts. As they spend their first months cycling between eating and sleeping, the heartbeat of their caregivers become the opening soundtrack of their lives.
The heart center has wisdom to share, but it speaks a different language than the mind. It communicates in subtle ways and unlike the mind, which is happy to blather on in almost any circumstance, the heart requires stillness.
The Heart-Centered Ritual
This ritual can be done anytime you are feeling disconnected from the heart or need to invite a heart-centered perspective to weigh in on the mind’s analysis. Chakrubs breast massager can also be used for this ritual.
Time commitment: 20-30 minutes
You will need:
- Body oil of your choice
- A Chakrubs Breast Massager (optional)
- Pen and journal
Ritual Steps
This ritual will be done topless in front of a mirror, but you should begin with a brief (5-10 minute) meditation to help you tune in.
Step 1: Self-Reflection
As you stand before the mirror and prepare to give your breasts some much-deserved attention, take a moment to appreciate the body that is reflected back at you. Thank your heart for its steady beat and the blood it circulates throughout your body.
Step 2: Contemplation
Begin to think about a situation that is unresolved and that you would like clarity on. You might think of an area of your life where you feel blocked and would like to release.
Step 3: Application of Oil and Massage
Apply your preferred body oil to your breasts and armpits.
Step 4: Lymph Clearing
Cup one hand above the opposite breast so that your fingertips snuggle into your armpit and your thumb is on the front of your chest. Squeeze this area in a rhythmic pumping motion to clear the lymph from your armpit.
Step 5: Emotion Identification
As you massage, try to name the emotion that is most prevalent when you think of this block.
Step 6: Massage and Reflection
Gradually move your hand down to the top part of your breast and gently work around the outside, under, and inner parts of the breast, around the nipple, and back towards the armpit, using the same pumping motion.
Step 7: Inner Child Healing
As you settle on the dominant feeling or fear that is keeping you blocked, try to think back to the first time you felt this way.
Step 8: Heart-Connection and Introspection
Work on each breast for five to ten minutes. As you massage your right breast, pause and allow yourself to feel your heartbeat.
Step 9: Visualization and Healing
As you trace this blockage back to childhood, consider what you needed in that moment and how you can give it to yourself now.
Step 10: Gratitude and Release
After you have traced your present fear or blockage to its root, check in and see if you feel more able to release or resolve the situation.
Step 11: Self-Pleasure Session (Optional)
Continue massaging for as long as it feels good. If you are aroused, you can conclude this ritual with a self-pleasure session and focus on releasing during the moment of climax.
Post-Ritual Reflection
Afterwards, journal what came up and detail any progress you made towards recognizing and releasing your blocks.
