When I was a child, I was an expert at manifestation. I didn’t even know I was doing it. I had a red mark on my face that I willed away with just my thoughts. I had a mean teacher in 3rd grade that was suddenly transferred to a new school after I wished something would take her away. I willed a doll house into my life that I wanted by looking at a picture of it in a catalog nightly, imagining myself playing with it.

I have been thinking about that dollhouse a lot, how naturally it was for me to envision myself playing with it. How fun it was to pretend it was already mine. The desire felt good and I didn’t pity myself for not having it yet. I don’t think I thought of myself as not really having it, or wondering if I’d have it one day. I simply pretended I did already, and it felt real. These are all pillars of manifestation techniques. But I remember when it came, and things shifted.

I was happy. But soon after I had played with it for the first time, my friend invited me to see her new dollhouse. Hers was better. It was a hand-me-down from her grandma. Victorian style architecture. It was special with wooden details and miniature furniture. Mine was from a catalog. I wasn’t aware that the kind of dollhouse she had existed. How a dollhouse could be a bonding experience with family. I had the dollhouse, but the feelings it gave me now seemed shallow.

This little anecdote could be why I don’t love the idea of manifesting these days. I’m completely inundated with videos instructing me how to do it all the time. But, what if I choose the wrong thing to manifest again? What if, like the dollhouse, I’m dreaming up something that is limiting me to my current awareness? I want to manifest things greater than I can even dream up. I’d like to leave the details of my life to the universe. I want to be surprised, I want to experience more depth in emotion than I do material things.

But this doesn’t mean I don’t want to take an active role in my life. The way I like to practice manifesting is internal manifestation. It’s not a new concept. In many Joe Dispenza meditations, he guides the listener to imagine what it feels like to be the you that you dream of being. It’s about practicing how you want to feel in order to prepare the body to experience it.

But sometimes, we’re blocked from accessing these feelings we want to manifest. Crystals help facilitate energy movement. When we experience things like grief and heartbreak, it can cause energy blockages that prevent us from feeling certain things. Working with crystal energy not only helps move that energy, but invites more of its vibration into our beings.

Crystals emanate different frequencies that closely match emotions. That is why we associate rose quartz with love - the energy is comforting, nurturing, beautiful, romantic. Working with this stone, especially as a chakrub, helps train your body to feel these emotions - without necessarily needing an external catalyst inspiring it (a.k.a a romantic partner).

So, In order to  manifest love, try to conjure up the feeling of love within yourself. What does love feel like in your body? Here is a short practice to help:

Begin by finding a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. Sit or lie down in a relaxed position, and take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Close your eyes and let go of any tension in your body.

Take your chakrub and place it over your heart. Take note of it’s weight, and see if you can sense it’s energy starting to merge with your heartbeat. Your heart will start to sound louder.

See if you can feel the energy of the crystal starting to expand. If you have energy blockages, this may take a few sessions to dissolve. You may also wish to play heart-opening music.

After a few moments, ask yourself what the love you want to manifest feels like. Important note here not to attach this feeling to a specific person or situation. Simply feel what the energy feels like in your body.

If you feel comfortable, after a few moments, insert the chakrub, imagining now that you are merging yourself with this energy of love, becoming it.

Allow yourself to feel pleasure, or relax into this state of being for 5-15 minutes.

Close your session with gratitude, returning the chakrub over your heart.
